Creating positive environmental impact whilst ensuring access to nutrition
Second Serve's main function is to take edible surplus food and turn it into low-cost meals. Every day, restaurants and supermarkets throw out edible food while students and families are paying more or cannot afford basic meals or their weekly shop.
Connecting these two problems through one solution is the goal. The process is simple: Partners let us know what safe, unsold food they have. Our drivers collect it, bring it to one of our safety check (distribution) centres and redistribute these meals through the mobile app.
Customers can choose delivery or click-and-collect from our centres. Meals start at $6-$8, with student discounts and subscriptions reducing costs further.
Contributors have less waste and better public image. Second Serve handles transport, storage and compliance to food safety laws.
Profits come from fees off meal sales and subscriptions, aiming for more sales at a lower profit margin.
